Barrington man killed after being struck by freight train
A 21-year-old Barrington man was killed Saturday after being struck by a westbound freight train in Barrington.
Antonio Hernandez was struck by the train traveling on the Union Pacific line west of Route 59, Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller said.
Main Street and Route 59 are closed from the crash that happened just after 3 p.m., police said. Traffic is being detoured.
The Major Crash Investigation Team is at the scene, police said.
An autopsy on Hernandez will be performed today or Monday, Keller said.
