Junction City man in collision with train
IRVINGTON - According to Washington County sheriff's reports, Richard J. Wesling, 19, of Junction City was involved in an accident with a Canadian National Railroad train on Friday at Holly Road near U.S. Highway 51.
Records state that at approximately 8 p.m. Friday, a Canadian National Railroad train was traveling north when Wesling drove over the railroad crossing, which did not have flashing lights or crossing gates but did have railroad crossing signs on both sides of the roadway.
The locomotive struck the passenger side of Wesling's vehicle, which eventually came to rest nearly 50 feet from the crossing.
Wesling was transported to St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia for treatment of injuries.
