7/1/06 Local Bands Rally for Cause

An abundance of young talented musicians took center stage last night serving notice once again of the communities support and need for improving railroad safety issues in our area. The fundraising event “Rock the Rails” organized by Tiffany Davis (daughter of KristensLaw author John Davis) was held at the Lyons Club in Villa Park,Il.

The bands competing for an opportunity to perform at Villa Park’s Oktoberfest included Eli, Ferocious Uppercut, The Main Damies, Groankh, and Hotel Ahead. The groups taking turns performing from 5:00pm-10:00pm, reminded us we are not short on spirit or talent as far as our younger generation is concerned. For $5.00 per person local residents gathered to hear their favorite artists perform. Hipster Joyce Stupegia, the popular Mayor from Villa Park was on hand to show her support and enjoy the festivities. Stupegia’s Safety Committee will receive the proceeds from this event. These funds will be used to construct proper safety fencing to separate North Terrace Park from the high speed multi-rail corridor that has claimed numerous lives.
